on the COVER
Senaka Senanayake (born 1951), the Yale-
educated Sri Lankan artist, features on this
month’s cover. A child progidy from a prominent
political family, Senanayake has spent his life
painting. From a studio next to his house in
Colombo, he conjours up lush vibrant canvases of
the native fauna and flora. These natural subjects
reflect his love of his home and the concern he
feels for the endangered rain forests, many of
which are destroyed to make way for tea
plantations. You can see his work at
Grosvenor
Gallery
from June 19 to July 11.
