PRESS RELEASE

Coast is where the heart is for Floren Gallery

After a fantastic launch in June and a fabulous reception locally, Floren Gallery of Parkstone, Poole, will this month open its doors for the second in a programme of stunning exhibitions; this one is sure to be a hit with the summer theme of ‘Coast’.

The exhibition, starting on 12th August 2008 and running for 3 weeks, will focus on the work of 9 Painters, Photographers and Sculptors whose passion for both local shorelines and beyond is dramatically conveyed through their works of art. ‘Coast’ will include a range of hand crafted boat sculptures; stunning painterly interpretations of summer boating and beaching scenes; and photographic observations of cliffs, sands and vessels from the most unusual points of view.

Artists include photographer Andy Hughes, fresh from an exciting exhibition at the Tate Gallery in St. Ives. With Andy’s work being displayed in some of the most sought after venues both in the UK and the USA, Floren Gallery is thrilled to be showcasing his work locally. Painter Tina Morgan, whose work is regularly exhibited both at The Society of Marine Artists and The Royal Society of British Artists in London, will be exhibiting a dramatic series of shoreline paintings in ‘Coast’. Tina comments: “I am very pleased that the Floren Gallery has asked me to contribute some paintings to this exhibition, because it will be a pleasure to work with people who have had an in-depth education in art as well as having a great passion for their subject. I feel this can only enhance the experience of visiting the gallery and viewing the paintings there.”

‘Coast’ will open with a preview evening on Tuesday 12th August, and will run until the 6th September 2008.

Notes to Editors:

Floren Gallery is part of Floren Fine Art, which was started in the year 2000. Director Neil Sherring was introduced to the work of Sir William Russell Flint, a well respected Scottish watercolour artist, and he became an avid admirer and collector.  As Neil became more knowledgeable in art, the company began to purchase original paintings and limited edition prints from around the country. Floren Fine Art’s sister company, CollectorsPrints.co.uk, is now recognised as the UK’s most popular website for contemporary limited edition prints. The company is expanding further to incorporate the gallery in Parkstone, which gives them the opportunity to show original art in a beautiful environment.
