ON COLLECTING PHOTOGRAPHY WITH MICHAEL HOPPEN THURSDAY 18 DECEMBER | 6PM Join us for an evening with Michael Hoppen, renowned photography dealer, collector and gallerist. Since founding the Michael Hoppen Gallery in 1992, he has championed emerging photographers while presenting them alongside masters from the nineteenth to twenty-first centuries. In this talk, Hoppen will share insights into collecting photography: how collections evolve, how galleries shape audiences, and why supporting both new and established artists is essential. Drawing on decades of experience, he will reflect on photography’s growing significance as a collectible art form and its place in today’s cultural landscape. FRIDAY LATE: JANE BOWN: PLAY SHADOW LIVE PERFORMANCE: SONGS IN THE SHADOW OF ICONS FRIDAY 16 JANUARY | 6PM Join us for the first Friday Late of the New Year, an evening of art, live music, drinks, and winter ambience. Enjoy exclusive after-hours access to Jane Bown: Play of Shadow, celebrating the legendary Observer photographer whose portraits reveal the soul of Britain’s cultural icons. Surrounded by portraits of The Beatles, Sinéad O’Connor, Sting, Mick Jagger, Yoko Ono, Boy George, Bono, and others, visitors will experience a night of music and conversation inspired by this era. Vocalist Ariádne (Lydia Kotsirea) and Will Lakin guitarist present a one-hour set reimagining songs by The Beatles, Sting, Mick Jagger, Boy George, and more. Blending classic pop, soul, and art-rock, their performance reflects the contemplative and quietly radical spirit of Bown’s portraits. newlandshouse.gallery Newlands House, Pound St, Petworth GU28 0DX
