Porthmadog-born Elfyn Lewis
has made a name for himself for
his mainly colourful, bold
abstracts which are rooted in the
Welshlandscape. Now the 2009
TwentiethCentury Welsh
Portraiture, features more than 30
paintings – from informal studies
to significant pieces showing
famous faces.
At his own gallery in
Beaumaris,
Steven Jones
will be
exhibiting Sunlight On Water
from October 6 until the end of
December. The oil paintings
include views from Venice and
the mountains of Snowdonia and
all will feature water caught in a
shimmering light.

Holyhead for Open Wall. As part
of October’s nationwide initiative
The Big Draw, visitors are being
asked to doodle on the exhibition
room’s walls. The centre is also
displaying paintings (to 12
October) by Iwan Lewis as part of
his series ‘Indian Summer’ and in
November there will be portraits
from Manchester-based artist
Emma Knowles.
