National Garden Scheme - Sussex - 2026 booklet

5 SUSSEX Dear Garden Visitor Strolling through a garden in any season has to be the best thing – from expert horticulturists to gardening novices, people enjoying the day with family, with friends, on their own - anyone and everyone loves a garden. And these days there is plenty of evidence on how being in a garden improves our mental and physical health not to mention the sheer joy of just getting out there and smelling the roses. Happily you have come to the right place. The National Garden Scheme is a fantastic way to visit all manner of private and public gardens which can be as diverse as they are beautiful. In Sussex we are very proud this year to have 189 gardens opening for us ranging from rolling landscaped acres to small country and town gardens, community gardens and those who open to the public but reserve a special day for National Garden Scheme visitors. Take a look at the icons on each listing for wheelchair access, dogs allowed and the all important offering of tea and cake. Of course there is another upside to visiting National Garden Scheme gardens and that is the incredible amount that is raised for our beneficiary charities. See the page opposite for a breakdown of where last year’s money has been allocated; our Sussex contribution amounting to an amazing £380,000 . Every penny will change lives for the better. So thank you dear garden visitor for picking up this booklet and planning your visits, thank you to our garden owners for generously opening your garden and making it all possible, and thank you to our Sussex booklet advertisers for their support. Happy visiting!
