Andrew Litten's 'Free Range' exhibition of highly individual paintings are sure to make the first solo exhibition of 2006 at Goldfish Contemporary Fine Art, a must see.

The solo show follows on from last years acclaimed show 'Ordinary Bodies' and exhibits paintings about ordinary people whose oddities are all the more prominent when taken outside.

Primitive or naïve artists as they are at present categorised are true to themselves and have an unshakeable belief in their own vein of art, not doubting its validity, and not wishing to achieve a style acceptable to the mainstream. They follow their own dream, obsession or eccentricity.

Andrew finds old chopping boards or used envelopes and then leaves them lying around his studio collecting dust and nicks and cuts, Then transforms them.
Like his predecessor Alfred Wallis, Andrew sees the content of the painting as the most important factor, leaving the presentation raw and untouched.

Andrew is the youngest member of the Anthony Petullo collection, which is the largest self taught and outsider art collections in the U.S.A. 'Outsider' is intended to reflect artists who's creations are spontaneous and unstudied.

This latest exhibition echo's our gallery ethos which is above all, honesty in place of ego.

'Free Range' opens on Friday 14th April and runs until 13th May.

A full line up of exhibitions can be viewed on the Goldfish Contemporary Fine Art website.
