The thoughts of the Spectator when viewing an image might be quite different from

those envisioned by the Image Maker, as Artist. The eye and the mind working

together see objects differently and the influences of composition, colour, mood and

season each have a bearing on how the Spectator as Critic will determine the

outcome of any Exhibition.

“Two mature image makers, Melvyn Altshuler, a Photographer and Selwyn Midgen, a

Painter are combining their talents to produce an exciting and vibrant show of recent

Exhibition will be held at The Framers Gallery in Windmill Street in November.

Melvyn Altshuler

Having attended the New York Institute of Photography and subsequently set up his

own Studio in Canada specialising in Advertising and Fashion, he has been living in

London for the past 30 years.

Melvyn’s latest images emanate partly from recent visits to Iceland, The Arctic, India,

Namibia and also from his native South Africa. The images are a part of the bonding

between subject and the inner relationship. He has work in private collections in

South Africa, Israel, Canada and the UK. He works from his studio close to Hyde Park.

Selwyn Midgen

Having completed a Diploma in Art at Sir John Cass in the 1980’s he has gone on to

study in Florence and London before setting up his own studio at the Chocolate

Factory, Wood Green, North London. His work is in private collections in England and

Selwyns work is about the use of Colour and its use according to the Season in which

the work has been completed. He has been visiting the same location in South West

France for some years. Fascinated by the shapes created through the displacement

of objects in the Landscape these works are figurative, although not necessarily

representational with differing degrees of abstraction. Also included are works from

the Highgate part of Hampstead Heath.

The Framers Gallery

Located in fashionable Fitzrovia, The Framers Gallery offers diversity of art,

showcasing works by contemporary British and International artists who express

themselves using multiple media like paintings, photography, sculptures,
