Jun 18-Jul 8 2015 STERN PISSARRO GALLERY Pissarro to Hirst - Open a 'pdf' of this press release - return to Galleries PR Index

‘Pissarro to Hirst’, works on paper.

In the last decade, Stern Pissarro Gallery has broadened its collection to include works by 20th

Century Masters and established contemporary artists.

The forthcoming exhibition of works on paper by artists from Camille Pissarro to Damien Hirst is a

testament to how the Gallery has evolved and reflects a fascinating variety of its collection including

works by Degas, Renoir, Bonnard, Matisse, Utrillo, Picasso, Miró and Moore.

Highlights include works on paper by Camille Pissarro, in whom the Gallery specialises. Over

twenty works by the founding Impressionist, including gouaches, watercolours, pastels and

drawings, will be on view from 18 June to 8 July.

Other focal points of the exhibition are a spectacular 1921 pastel by Pablo Picasso, a rare 1919 cubist

drawing by Fernand Léger and several beautiful colour drawings by Joan Miró. Contemporary

pieces to be shown include works by Fernando Botero, a paintstick by Richard Serra and a spin

painting by Damien Hirst. Prices in the exhibition range from £ 3,000 to £ 300,000.

Some of the drawings have come from a distinguished private collection in Atlanta. This extensive

collection has been compiled over numerous years, many of them past purchases from Stern Pissarro

Gallery which are presently consigned back to the Gallery for sale.

June is a particularly exciting time for the Impressionist and Modern art market, with auctions and

fairs throughout the month leading up to Brown’s London Art Weekend in July. With Pissarro to

Hirst’ Stern Pissarro Gallery, located in the heart of Mayfair in St. Jamess, will make a rich

contribution to the quality of Impressionist, Modern and contemporary art on offer in London.

The exhibition is accompanied by an online catalogue, which can be found on the Gallery website.
