Bicha Gallery is proud to announce an exhibition of paintings by emerging Greek artist,
Paraskevi Plevri. These paintings explore our perceptions of memory, time and space.
They are rich, layered psychological landscapes – personal, beckoning, infinite places
inhabited by all our imagined pasts and futures.
Not only are Paraskevi’s paintings layered in meaning, she is keen to explore the use
of materials that bring a new vocabulary to the work. Fabric, newspaper, sand, plaster
and others - are all ingredients to be fused in this pursuit.
Poetry provides inspiration for Paraskevi’s paintings. Works such as The Waste Land by
T.S. Elliot, the Duino Elegies of Rainer Maria Rilke and the Seferis and Elytis poems give
added dimension to the myth of these personal images. Some are broken but all are
memories, both present and timeless.
