Altered States Open Air Sculpture Exhibition has escaped the tentacular reaches of the Corona Virus. This magnificent exhibition showing 60 sculptures opens to the public from September 5 to 27, set in the expansive Orangery Lawns at Shaw House in Newbury. For free you can wander around a stunning and varied array of sculpture in wood, metal, stone and metal resin and survey a sumptuous vision of beauty, innovation and imagination encapsulated in sculptures that have been sourced throughout the length and breadth of this country. All of the works are for sale. Families are most welcome but encouraged to respect the works. They are not interactive, and for safety purposes visitors are asked not to touch the sculptures. Government guidelines regarding the pandemic are to be observed at all times; sculptures are spaced to allow social distancing within the grounds. This exhibition was scheduled for May but, like a mighty phoenix, rises from the ashes of postponement to give the people of Newbury a much needed and deserved space to wander and wonder. Week days: Access to the grounds only; toilets available. Please respect the space around those celebrating weddings and other ceremonies within the House. Weekends: The House and grounds, shop and café (take-out service) open; toilets available. Limits on single person/households in the lifts.
