Mon-Sat 10-4 t 01654 703355 info@moma.machynlleth.org.uk www.moma.machynlleth.org.uk On her website Andrea McLean intriguingly describes her work as “imagining maps and painting dreams”. With a CV including participation alongside Grayson Perry and others in the select exhibition 'Mapping Inspirations' at Hereford Cathedral in 2017 to celebrate their 700 year old treasure the Mappa Mundi – she is clearly a painter with a distinct vision of how and what she wants to paint. She is also emotionally attached to her native landscape of Herefordshire and the Welsh Borders so this latest show at T he Art Shop & Chapel, after a week's residency there, has a particular resonance. Teeming with images of animals and figures, flowers and trees, they possess a mystical quality reminiscent of David Jones; painted with an otherworldly iridescence of colour, they nonetheless speak with a genuinely original poetic voice.
