Fantasy female forms - dreamscapes www.ulla-art.com Wendy Brooke-Smith: painting transience; fixture in the landscape www.wendybrooke-smith.com ARTIST WEBSITES Stephen King has been a professional artist since selling a painting from the railings of Armstrong Bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1977, having shown “an unusual aptitude for painting and drawing from early infancy.” Formal art education was fulfilled at Bath Academy of Art in Corsham followed by a move to London and working as artist’s assistant to Sir Howard Hodgkin and Barry Flanagan amongst other art world names. In the mid ‘80s he was the gardener in charge of the restoration of Gertrude Jekylls’ garden. A keen mountain climber, his subject matter is frequently snowy mountain scenes – an exhibition of oil paintings from Nepal is at The Chelsea Arts Club this month followed by a show at 54 The Gallery in Mayfair in April.
