These are the things that have always seemed to have fired his creative imagination and, in his earlier work, were expressed in semi or completely abstract paintings that appeared to suggest ancient wall or rock surfaces. Recently the paintings have taken on a more ethereal, airy form suggestive of cloud formations, rolling banks of vapour, vast, misty landscapes and sea shores in which his use of blowtorch and sanders to 'weather' their surfaces now increasingly suggest not so much antiquity but the conjunction of inner and outer worlds of consciousness.
