Anectdotedly glass artists do not often uniquely command gallery space, glasswork is more usually found at the back of the gallery, of necessity smaller than other pieces and not the headline event. D oubtfire Gallery though have brought together ‘Converge – Six Women in Glass’, each of whom individualy could rightfully command a gallery space alone but who together cover an immense lateral span of creative work principally in glass. This is powerful at many levels. The old snobbery about art and craft is something of an anachronism now, the integrity of these artworks eschews any such prejudices. Six artists working in the same medium in radically different ways, this looks like something of a benchmark show. PH THUMB nail Karen Akester ‘Party Activists’
