Since 2013 Janice’s creative mind has been on ‘Silent Music’, a developing project which all began with a large ex Salvation Army band silver tuba. The instrument’s sculptural form and relationship to its player – most instruments are designed to fit the human figure – sparked ideas which, along with a tenor horn, covered with white couched paper, set up in a church, became ‘Mother and Child’. She now has a large collection of instruments, many of them covered in white, “creating a pure soundless display”, along with instrument carrying cases which offer a new aspect to the work.
