Galleries - April 2018

After a winning first leap into the art fair arena last year – metaphorically and literally as the venue was (and is again) Cheltenham Racecourse – Fresh 2018 (27 to 29 April) has established a slot in the provincial art fair calendar as something not to be missed. Ofthe 49 galleries exhibiting this year, some two thirds are back, including new artists in their line up. Last year’s near 4,500 visitors bought some halfa million pounds worth ofart in three days; from showing celebrity names such as Damien Hirst and Peter Blake to many rising stars, the Fair clearly succeeded in appealing to one and all with original prints and paintings, sculpture, glass and ceramics at prices ranging from £100 to £50,000 – a successful formula repeated this year. Once again there are painters and sculptors giving demonstrations for visitors to watch, along with a programme of talks by those in the art know. Bonhams fine art auctioneers are also back this year to give advice – visitors are invited to bring background information and a photo ofany pre-contemporary work they might be thinking of selling. Fresh is as fresh does, so there are new highlights for this year including a dedicated sculpture park with some 70 large pieces on show, the work of15 artists. 2018 EXHIBITORS: A3 Contemporary Agora Art Salon Art World Artshouse Artizan Editions Brook Contemporary Bowie Gallery Byard Art Cameron Contemporary Art Campden Gallery Carina Haslam Art Clifton Fine Art Coombe Gallery Darryl Nantais Gallery Eleven and a Half Fine Art Consultancy First Contemporary Francis Iles and Artists ofRussia Gala Fine Art Gallery Different Gallery Pangolin George Thornton GreenStage Gallery Hadfield Fine Art Heart OfGlass Hybrid Gallery John Davies Gallery Kaleidoscope Kingfisher Art Lime Tree Gallery Little Buckland Gallery Mayne Gallery Panter & Hall Paragon Gallery Quantum Contemporary Art Sheridan Russell Gallery Signet Contemporary South West Contemporary Strange Tracey The Art Agency The Brownston Gallery The Doorway Gallery The Sculpture Park The Wey Gallery Wetpaint Gallery White Space Art Wing Art Gallery Wren Fine Art 14 GALLERIES APRIL 2018 THE BROWNSTON GALLERY Stand 42 Anthony Amos; Jerry Browning; Julie Ellis; Charles Jamieson; Joanna Vollers; Tony Parsons; Tony Williams; Melanie Deegan; Martyn Dempsey; Ben Lintell Charles Jamieson ‘Roses’ CAMERON CONTEMPORARY ART Stand 36 Faye Anderson, Claire Beattie, Lilia Umana Clarke, Julie Nelson, Donald Provan, Luke Hannam, Kirsty Wither, Mark Johnston, Victoria Graimes, Kevin Hendley Kirsty Wither ‘Rosy Tumbler’ CAMPDEN GALLERY Stand 19 Paul Wadsworth, Caroline Yates, David Atkins, Isabella Maclure, David Johnson, Kristin Vestgard, David Edmond, Paul Harvey, Dido Crosby Paul Wadsworth ‘The Spanish Clown’
