What really is remarkable about his art though aretheimmensely powerful and moving artistic means through which he has come to deal with these issues: massiveportraits madeby hammering thousands of differentially headed gold painted nails into great planks of wood stained with coffee and earth at very precisely controlled depths. It is a technique which references the Miniski ‘power figures’ of the Congo Basin – warding off evil spirits – but out of it he creates images of immense human nobility. At October Gallery .
