It is distinctly encouraging therefore to come across the work of a young graduate, Adam Berry, who has recently undertaken a solo painting tour of the UK doing just that, his large scale, often 'plein air' paintings and drawings, underpinned by deep research into the places’ history and inhabitants, deliberately aiming to respond to each location’s particular atmosphere. Showing at the Atkinson Gallery where Berry was recently artist in residence, this is exhilarating work. N U THUMB nail Adam Berry ‘Across to Newlyn, Cornwall’
