The current show of ‘Affordable Modern British Art’ at their Marlborough base is no exception so that, alongside Sandra Blow, Mary Fedden, Henry Moore and Alan Davie, you find superb paintings by artists like Larry Ham (1934-2007) – semi-abstractions of near William Scott standard, and new to me at least. Some unexpected names too like the delightful contemporary figurative artist Simon Quadrat and, with Stanley Spencer, Terry Frost and Maurice Cockrills all available at under £1,000, good value too.
