Born in Dumfries, McWhirter studied at Bath Academy, following in the footsteps of such luminaries as colourist Howard Hodgkin. She has worked in Glasgow since 2012 and as well as showing internationally and with a number of UK galleries, she has been twice selected for the Royal Glasgow Institute’s annual shows; this month at The Russell Gallery is her first London solo show. on the COVER Alison McWhirter at The Russell Gallery You Are Here 21 January ² 13 February 2016 Emma Levine, Priory Tree Map, silk and pins, 59x59cm 32 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BS
