Wood ‘1st Secret of Albion’ 2016 looks as though it's going to be a rather special year for the gifted Leeds-based painter Christopher P. Wood, with a major (and hugely overdue) publication being planned to accompany a big exhibition of his work from the last 15 years at the Goldmark Gallery, at some point this summer. To kick things off however, he is currently having a show, covering a similar time span, at Sylvester Fine Art in Belsize Park which, if you are not yet familiar with his work, you are strongly advised to try and see. Wood's work is not remotely like that of any artist I can think of – poetic, visionary, delving deep into the human psyche – he paints with a fluidity and intensity of colour that makes much current art look just flimsy and empty.
