Rendered with astonishingly detailed pictorial realism, his paintings create a fascinating, yet uncanny effect, where the mythic and the mundane, the natural and the divine collide and coalesce. Here the mythic presences – whether Pan, Apollo or even the dreaded Medusa – appear lost in deep introspection and reflective meditation, hidden away in a secluded woodland dell or isolated on a remote hillside somewhere far away in the Scottish northern wilderness. Whether these figures are way beyond our ken, or merely awaiting the call to action, we can but speculate and wonder. Bill Hare THUMB nails
