Antique Palace Head out of Oxford northwestwards to a famous bastion of Englishness, BlenheimPalace at Woodstock, birth place of Sir Winston of course and, for the third weekend of April, home to the superb Cotswolds Art and Antiques Dealers’ Fair. The Cotswolds was always famous for the number and quality of its dealers and while perhaps taking something of a hit a decade or more back from the internet, they are now, as this fair triumphantly makes plain, very much back to their old glories, being sponsored this year by 1stdibs.com, the leading online marketplace for antiques worldwide. The fair, now in its fourth year, has helped play a significant role in this process and the 30 or so dealers are very much at the top of the tree, with it now being viewed as pre-eminent outside London. Its situation in the palace’s Colonnade, Orangery and Campaign Rooms is a privilege accorded no other fair. With free entry to the Capability Brown grounds in the ticket, a must!
