The poetic moods and rich textures of Szaybo’s canvases, influenced by walks along the River Waveney, suggest the ever-shifting patterns of standing water, reflections, drifting leaves, wading birds, flowers, clouds, the moon – veiled by a delicate tracery of lines and marks. Paintings with circular forms like Artemis and Lunar hint at correspondences and hidden affinities of structure between micro and macrocosms. John Briggs has a careful eye for the beautiful fractal forms around him. A rare treat: 4 to 11 October at the Cello Factory , Waterloo. RC THUMB nails
