Wed–Sat 11–6, Sun 12–5 t 020 7704 9522 f 020 7704 9531 Margaret Lovell ‘Maze Tree’ With its beautifully refurbished space and magnificent situation fronting on to the River Exe, The Art Room in Topsham (map 12), really is a model of what a good small town gallery can achieve with the right vision, degree of enterprise and energy. Owner Deborah Wood’s programme reflects this, with its emphasis on British art since the war that includes some really distinguished contemporary practitioners like John Hubbard and Robert Organ, while there is a constant flow of talks, discussions and events. This month is no exception with the distinguished abstract sculptor Margaret Lovell RWA putting on a full-scale show of her fluid, flowing bronzes and elegant abstract reliefs (to 10 November) being followed later by Valerie Barden’s colourful figurative compositions.
