Painting that they started in their Shepherd Market space in 2000, so it is nice to see them returning to their roots with such a rich and varied survey of historical and contemporary Scots work. Among the earlier pieces I was particularly struck by the delicious William Crosbie (there’s an underrated artist!) female nude ‘In the Tea House’, the James Ferguson portrait of Peploe and the little-known Neil Russell’s landscape from the 1940s, while among the many excellent and more recent things Norman Edgar’s still-life is a revelation.
