A selection of the work (official and unofficial) in both world wars is shown alongside coverage of the Falklands conflict and reactions to more recent troubles. Good things by Laura Knight, Ethel Gabain, Evelyn Dunbar and Victoria Monkhouse, but lack of frontline experience keeps the exhibition in a minor key. Fascinating to wonder what might have resulted had Muirhead Bone’s suggestion to commission Carrington and the Gwens, Raverat and John, been taken up. A book by Kathleen Palmer (£12.99) expands on the subject. SD THUMB nails Dame Laura Knight, ‘Ruby Loftus Screwing a Breech-ring’
