Trained at the University of the Arts in Graphic Communication and making her initial reputation as graphic designer, Nurjan has now branched out into a new area, using thousands of coloured Swarovski crystals to create complex Islamic art inspired designs in a highly distinctive contemporary style on a wide variety of surfaces –mirrors and faux fur among others. It would appear that this has become her chosen medium, allowing her to express her feelings for Islamic culture in a bold, modern spirit . . . NU Zebra, Swarovski crystal on faux fur 80.5 x 60.5 cm.
